Implant-supported prostheses are an excellent alternative to full dentures. They're more stable and comfortable, and they allow you to regain your chewing strength.

Prostheses can be permanent or removable. Dr. Marie-Eve Costisella will take the time to explain the differences between the two types, including their respective advantages and disadvantages. She'll also let you know which option is best for you.

Bar-retained overdentures

A bar-retained overdenture is a very stable and comfortable option that allows you to regain good chewing function. The prosthetic appliance is placed over a bar that's secured to implants. It will immediately slow down bone resorption.

Implant-supported removable dentures

Removable dentures supported by dental implants are a permanent solution for patients who have lost their teeth. The denture attaches to your jaw using a "snap-on" system. Small metal extensions called "locators" fit into the denture and allow you to easily take it out and put it back in again. Most often, removable implant-supported dentures are installed on the lower arch. However, they can also be installed on the upper arch.

Implant-supported crowns

A fixed implant-supported crown looks just like a natural tooth. It's very thin and has rounded edges. The crown doesn't touch your gums because it's anchored by the implants only. This type of prosthesis is permanent, meaning you can't take it out on your own. Only your dentist can remove it. An implant-supported crown is a natural-looking option that will allow you to regain your chewing strength.
